Bob has 30 years’ professional experience in advertising and marketing and has been Mayor of Waitakere City from 1992 to the present day.
“It’s a great honour to be chairing the judging panel for this
competition. This logo will become one of the most widely recognised brands
in New Zealand. Just as New Zealanders have had the opportunity to have
their say on how the new council is structured and what it does, it’s
appropriate that everyone has a chance to submit their ideas on the Auckland
Council logo. It’s open to pretty much anyone, so I invite you to have a
go.”

Dick Frizzell
Dick Frizzell is a New Zealand artist who has also worked in advertising, animation and illustration. His work is characterised by highly skilled handling of paint and an endlessly inventive range of subject matter and styles. An exuberant anti-traditionalist, Frizzell is one of the country’s greatest living artists.
Hamish Keith
Hamish Keith is an arts consultant, media writer, broadcaster and author of a number of art and social history publications. In October 2009, the University of Waikato conferred an honorary doctorate on Keith - in recognition of “a lifetime engaged with the arts and with the cultural history of New Zealand”.
Wayne Pihema
Wayne Pihema sits on the Aotea Centre Board of Management and was the longest-serving president of the Postgraduate Students' Association (PGSA) of Victoria University. He is a member of the Ngati Whatua tribe with links to the northern and southern Kaipara, including Orakei. Wayne holds a Master of Tourism Management from Victoria University and a Graduate Diploma in Business from Auckland University.
Bill Ralston
Bill Ralston is a journalist, broadcaster, media adviser and personality, active in television, radio and print. A former editor of Auckland’s Metro magazine, Bill has worked at every level of the media, including as a political correspondent, host of the television arts show Backch@t, and head of news and current affairs at TVNZ from 2003 to 2007.
Ema
Tavola
Ema Tavola is a visual artist and curator who has exhibited extensively in Fiji and New Zealand since 2000. She holds a Bachelor of Visual Arts and in her capacity as Pacific Arts Coordinator for Manukau City Council has been instrumental in the development of Fresh Gallery Otara, a community gallery profiling contemporary Pacific art in Manukau City. Ema is also the Fijian representative on the Pacific Arts Committee of Creative New Zealand.
Karen Walker
Karen Walker is one of New Zealand’s highest profile and most successful design talents. Her fashion empire includes her eponymous clothing ranges as well as fine jewellery, eyewear and paints. Karen Walker shows at New York fashion week each season and has six retail stores.
